A one-page software developer resume that leads with shipped work, names the stack in the words job posts use, and backs each claim with a number a hiring manager can check in an interview.
Software developer with 5 years building backend services and APIs in TypeScript and Go. Cut p95 API latency by 48% at a payments startup and led the move from a monolith to six services without downtime. Comfortable owning a feature from design doc to on-call.
The PDF is rendered by the same generator FastApply uses for tailored resumes.
The person and companies in this sample are fictional; the numbers show the level of detail to aim for.
Keep the structure
Summary, then 3 roles newest first, then skills grouped the way software developer postings list them. Recruiters scan in that order.
Write your own numbers
Every bullet here ends with a result. Rewrite yours the same way using the bullet table below, with figures you can explain in an interview.
Tailor it per posting
Two software developer jobs rarely ask for the same things. Move the matching work up and use each posting's keywords, or let AI Tailoring do it from your resume in about a minute.

Summary
Years of experience, your core stack, and one result that shows the level you work at.
"Passionate developer seeking opportunities". It says nothing a recruiter can use.
Backend developer, 5 years in Go and TypeScript; cut p95 latency 48% on a payments API.
Experience
3 to 5 bullets per role: what you built, how, and the measurable effect.
Task lists ("responsible for APIs") and every ticket you closed.
Moved nightly batch syncs to Kafka events; partner updates now land in under 5 seconds.
Skills
Grouped, specific technologies you could be interviewed on today.
Skill bars, percentages, and tools you used once in a tutorial.
Backend: Node.js, gRPC, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis.
Projects (optional)
Open-source or side projects with users, stars or a live link, if your work history is thin.
Course to-do apps unless you are applying for your first role.
Maintainer of a Go rate-limiting library, 1.2k GitHub stars.
Education and certifications
Degree, school, years; certifications that the posting names.
Keep it to one page under 8 years of experience, two pages above that.
Mirror the posting's exact technology names in your skills and bullets.
Link a GitHub or portfolio that has something worth opening.
Use a single-column layout with plain section headings so ATS parsers read it in order.
Don't
Don't list every language you have touched; interviewers pick the odd ones to test.
Don't put skills in a sidebar, table or image; many parsers drop them.
Don't describe duties without results.
Don't send the same resume to a frontend and a backend role.

One page for most developers with under 8 years of experience. Senior and staff engineers with several relevant roles can use two pages, but the first page should still carry the strongest work.
Should I include a projects section?
Yes if you are early in your career or changing stacks, and the projects have real users, a live link or meaningful code. Experienced developers can usually drop it in favour of more detail on paid work.
Which skills should a software developer list?
The ones the job posting names that you can discuss in an interview: languages, frameworks, databases, cloud services and tooling. Group them so a recruiter can scan them in seconds.
Do I need a different resume for each job?
You should adjust it for each posting: lead with the matching stack, reorder bullets, and use the posting's terms. FastApply's AI Tailoring add-on does this from your existing resume for any job on the board.
Is a summary still worth including?
A two to three line summary helps when it states your level, stack and one result. Skip it if it would only repeat your job titles.
How do I get past applicant tracking systems?
Use a single-column layout, standard headings (Experience, Skills, Education), a PDF or DOCX file, and the exact keywords from the posting where they truthfully apply to you.
