Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery - Full Time Float

GENERAL SUMMARY: Join our dynamic Central Float Pool as a Registered Nurse and make a meaningful impact across our healthcare system. As an RN in Labor & Delivery, you'll rotate between three hospitals with a flexible schedule that includes every other weekend, designated holidays, and strategically planned shifts—providing you with work-life balance while serving our community. You'll be redeployed up to one hour prior to shift start based on evolving patient care needs, ensuring optimal staffing and quality outcomes.

Coordinate and deliver exceptional, compassionate patient care. You'll leverage the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide, delegate, supervise, and document comprehensive care and patient/family education. Your strong communication skills will ensure seamless collaboration with the healthcare team, while your problem-solving abilities will drive innovative solutions to achieve and exceed patient care goals.

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Lead and coordinate quality, compassionate patient care delivery across multiple acute care settings
• Apply the nursing process to assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate outcomes
• Delegate and supervise nursing care while maintaining accountability for patient safety and quality standards
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education, ensuring understanding and engagement in care decisions
• Document care accurately and thoroughly, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards
• Communicate pertinent patient and family information effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Identify variances from patient goals and collaborate with the team to implement evidence-based solutions
• Demonstrate flexibility and clinical excellence while floating between units and care levels
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional nursing excellence

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

We're seeking a compassionate, clinically skilled Registered Nurse with a strong foundation in acute care nursing. Your background should include:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred) or graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum 2-3 years of recent clinical experience in a Labor & Delivery/LDRP unit:
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic, multi-unit environments with a willingness to float across our healthcare system
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care with strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES:

• Current, active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Current EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification (Inteleos or NCC)
