Since 2007,  Greater Valley Health Center has proudly served the Flathead Valley by providing comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health services.  We are seeking a detailed-oriented Dental Biller/Coder to join our collaborative Billing Department.  This is an onsite position based in Kalispell, Montana (remote work is not available).

Position Summary

The Dental Biller/Coder is responsible for ensuring accurate coding, billing, and documentation to support quality patient care and timely reimbursement.  This role works closely with providers, clinical staff, insurance companies, and the billing team to process medical, dental, and behavioral health claims while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations. 

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately review, code, and submit dental, medical, and behavioral health claims.
• Ensure documentation supports appropriate coding and reimbursement. 
• Verify claim accuracy and resolve coding and billing discrepancies. 
• Process claims to Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and other third-party payers. 
• Monitor claim status, identify denials, and assist with appeals and claim corrections. 
• Maintain compliance with coding guidelines, payer policies, and healthcare regulations. 
• Assist providers and billing staff with coding questions and updates.
• Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and billing software to maintain accurate patient records. 
• Collaborate with the billing team to improve workflow, accuracy, and reimbursement. 
• perform other billing and administrative duties as assigned.
  

Qualifications 

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent 
• 1-3 years of experience in healthcare billing and coding, preferably in a dental or ambulatory care setting. 
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation. 
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing. 
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and medical billing software. 
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  

Preferred 

• Associate degree in Medical Coding, Health Information Management, or a related field. 
• Medical Coding certification (CPC,CCS, or equivalent), or actively working toward certification. 
• Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), community health center, or multi-specialty practice. 
• Knowledge of ambulatory care coding and billing guidelines.
