Job Description

 

The Customer Project Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact between MidAmerican Energy Company, customers, contractors, homebuilders, and government agencies to initiate gas and electric distribution projects and coordinate house move requests.

This position is responsible for coordinating customer-requested construction work from initiation through handoff to engineering, including service installations, relocations, upgrades, line extensions, streetlight projects, and government-related projects. The Customer Project Coordinator prepares agreements, creates work orders, schedules distribution outage requests, and processes service applications.

A key aspect of this role is acting as a customer advocate, ensuring customer information, agreements, and payments are accurate and complete to prevent delays and support timely project execution.

 

Associate's degree in a technical field or related field (Typically, three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess an associate's degree.) 

Three years of related work experience in construction management or construction coordination. 

In lieu of an associate's degree and work experience, a bachelor's degree in a technical field would be considered. 

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 

Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation. 

 

Receives requests for service, line extensions, main extensions, relocation, streetlight installation and other customer-related construction work. Serve as the primary contact for government projects. (30%)

Prepare, manage, and administer contracts and service agreements associated with distribution services and construction work, including collecting and processing customer payments. (25%)

Answer calls from internal and external customers on the automatic call distribution line from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Scheduling customer requested distribution outage requests. (15%)

Receive service applications for new electric and gas services and upgrades to existing residential and commercial installations. Create Maximo work orders, establish new customer accounts in the customer service system, calculate and bill customers for applicable gas service upgrade charges, and process demolition requests from customers and local government agencies. (15%)

Coordinate house move requests by working directly with customers to obtain route details, move schedules, and load specifications. Facilitate engineering reviews to identify potential conflicts with electric facilities to ensure adequate utility clearances along the proposed route, communicate requirements and costs to customers. (10%)
